Hello from the Office of Enterprise Sustainability!

Alex Jackson

Enterprise Energy Coordinator

Alex Jackson is an Energy Coordinator for the State of Minnesota, assigned to the Office of Enterprise Sustainability. As a member of the OES team, Alex works to develop and advocate for energy efficiency projects throughout state infrastructure and oversees a revolving loan fund to help agencies pay for improvements. Alex also serves as the office lead on Inflation Reduction Act and Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) implementation efforts. 

Prior to working for the state of Minnesota, Alex served as Energy Coordinator for the City of Duluth for nearly ten years. Alex also spent nearly five years as the Air Program Coordinator for the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. There he was responsible for tracking the Band’s air emissions and operating their air quality monitoring station. Other responsibilities included, offering comments to regulatory agencies on behalf of the Band.

Alex studied Biology at University of Wisconsin-Superior. When he's not working, Alex enjoys many outdoor activities, supporting Minnesota United, and spending time with his family. 

Caroline McFadden

Enterprise Sustainability Planner

Caroline McFadden is the Enterprise Sustainability Planner for the Office of Enterprise Sustainability, developing strategies and assisting agencies in implementing energy, water, procurement, solid waste, fleet, and greenhouse gases action plans for State operations. 

Caroline joins the Office of Enterprise Sustainability with experience as a Sustainability Coordinator at both a state agency and a city. Additionally, she has experience in solid waste program and policy development, and water resources technical assistance at the state and county levels.  

Caroline studied geology at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and environmental science at the University of Massachusetts - Boston. In her free team, she enjoys mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding, crossword puzzles, gardening, and spending quality time with her spouse and dogs. 

Karre Wagner-Micele

Enterprise Communications and Solid Waste Specialist

Karre Wagner-Micele is the Communications and Solid Waste Specialist for the Office of Enterprise Sustainability. She works on advancing a culture of sustainability through the development of sustainability messaging, new employee orientation, and green meeting guidelines while also establishing a solid waste technical assistance program to support state agency staff in reducing waste, increasing diversion, and avoiding associated costs.

Karre has prior experience as a Senior Sustainability Specialist working collaboratively with private and non-profit entities to begin or expand their solid waste programs throughout the Twin Cities metro. Additionally, she served as an AmeriCorps Minnesota GreenCorps member at the Minnesota Zoo helping to advance sustainability reporting and sustainability awareness amongst staff and guests. 

Karre studied geography, climate science, and sustainability at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. She enjoys reading, hiking, tending to her vegetable garden and spending time with her family.

Marcus Grubbs

Director - Office of Enterprise Sustainability

Marcus has been with the Office of Enterprise Sustainability since 2017, first in the role of Planner, and now as Director. Marcus is grateful for the opportunity to support the OES team members who advance enterprise sustainability through their talents in reporting, planning, technical assistance, and transformation. With a focus on working with agency partners to advance sustainability together, Marcus focuses on strategies that will reduce state agency operating costs allowing them to better serve residents of Minnesota. 

Marcus’ previous work was in regional environmental planning, board management, and economic development through value-added processing in forestry and agriculture. He is a graduate of the Humphrey School of Public affairs and the University of Minnesota, Morris. Marcus lives in South Minneapolis with his wife and dog, where they enjoy all the wonderful recreation opportunities of the Minneapolis Parks system. 


Parker Angelos

Enterprise Sustainability Research Analyst

Parker is the Enterprise Sustainability Research Analyst for the Office of Enterprise Sustainability assisting in data quality control, managing enterprise sustainability databases, and conducting research for decision making and long-range planning. He also provides analysis and technical assistance to state agency staff, workgroups, sustainability coordinators, and the Sustainability Steering Team along with developing and implementing other enterprise-wide initiatives. 

Previously, he served as an AmeriCorps VISTA Energy & Sustainability Assistant in the Sustainability Office at the City of Duluth. In this role, Parker advanced energy equity and added capacity towards the City’s climate goals along with supporting city decision-making by conducting research and working with community groups, organizations, and local utilities.

Studying at Indiana University, Parker learned how to combine public policy and environmental science to make informed decisions advancing sustainability. In his free time, he enjoys being in nature, traveling, and trying new cuisines.
